Interview Policy
Media members are forbidden from contacting players or coaches via phone, email, text, or social media (including replies, tags and direct messages) without the expressed consent of the sports information office. Loss of credential could result from violation of this policy.
Student-athlete phone interviews are granted on a limited basis and must be scheduled through the sports information office. Phone numbers of student-athletes are not issued to the media.
All interview requests must be submitted 24-hours in advance. This allows the sports information office to contact the student-athlete, get his/her approval and then finalize plans with the media representative.Â
The sports information office takes into consideration the student-athlete’s class schedule, practice schedule, team policies and the head coach’s rules when considering interviews and media availability.
It is understood that all student-athlete living, dining, training and dressing areas (including the player tunnel at Washington-Grizzly Stadium) are considered private areas and that no member of the media is to be present in any of these areas unless they are escorted by a member of the sports information staff.
Press/Photo Football Credentials and Parking Passes
All media credentials, photography passes, and parking passes, must be submitted via the online form below. Credentials for home games will be available in the sports information office in the Adams Center from Thursday at noon until Friday at 4 p.m. Credentials not picked up by that time will be left at the will call window in the Adams Center Box Office from 9 a.m. until kickoff on game day. Photographers must comply with NCAA GUIDELINES*. Season credentials and parking passes are distributed in late August prior to UM's first home game.
All credential holders are subject to the Big Sky Conference Media and Credential Use Conditions Agreement. Please read and understand this document before applying for credentials.Â
The University of Montana issues media credentials with the interest of maintaining a safe and professional working environment. Requests for credentials must be submitted 48 hours in advance to the Sports Information office. Media credentials are issued solely to the person identified on it. Credentials are issued at the discretion of the Sport Information office, are non-transferable, and may be revoked at the discretion of UM staff if policy is broken or credentials obtained under false pretenses.Â
Credentials are only issued to media with a legitimate game day working function, and are not provided to spouses, children, friends, etc. Media members not directly covering the event are not allowed in working areas of the press box, including press row. Press row seating is only open to individuals with assigned seats.Â
Media members are expected to operate in a professional, safe, and courteous manner at all times. Professional behavior and attire is expected in working areas at all times. Credential holders are asked to not interact with coaches or players from either the home or visiting team outside of post-game press availabilities. Media members found drinking in the tailgate area will forfeit their credential privileges for that game.Â
Websites that represent a legitimate news service and provide coverage of UM athletics, the visiting team and/or college football on a regional or national level on a regular basis are eligible for credentials. Websites that do not employ professional journalists will not be issued credentials. In addition, websites that sponsor message boards, message centers or chat rooms where people are allowed to post anonymous information will not be issued credentials. Due to space limitations, credentials will awarded on a tiered basis, with priority given to organizations that regularly cover Griz football.Â
Due to limited availability, not all parking requests may be granted.
