Summer meet and greet :: Catherine Orfanos

June 30, 2014

Over the course of four weeks, is introducing you first to three incoming players, then five returning players who will make up the 2014-15 Montana women's tennis team. Today: Catherine Orfanos of Lake Forest, Ill., a city on Lake Michigan, 30 miles north of Chicago.

Orfanos signed a National Letter of Intent last fall.

"The first thing that made an impression on me was Catherine's knowledge of the University of Montana and our tennis program," says coach Steve Ascher. "She was someone who clearly did her research and was prepared to ask questions.

"Catherine is very athletic and trains with a very good coach [Mark Bey] in a strong junior program. She plays in a lot of tournaments, and that puts her in situations to continue to gain experience.

"She is going to bring a lot of energy to the program. We're looking forward to having her join us."
