Montana women's tennis team finishes competition at ITA Regionals

The University of Montana women's tennis team finished up its matches on Saturday at the ITA Mountain Regionals at UNLV.

The team went 15-10 in the tournament in singles and doubles.

Haley Drivermade it to the sweet 16 round before losing to Lucia Batta of UNLV. Batta was seeded 43rd in the tournament.

Heather Davidson and Laurence Pelchatteamed up to also advance to the sweet 16 doubles rounds. The duo was defeated by a pair from Utah State.

Precious Gbadamosi and Laurance Pelchat won their consolation matches on Saturday. Then Gbadamosi teamed up with Maddy Murrayto win their consolation match against a team from Colorado State.

"The tournament was a solid performance," said head coach Steve Ascher. "Earning victories over good teams and being defeated by a number of seeded players is a good showing. We continue to climb the ladder of performance. My hope is that each player gains experience from each match and learns through both their wins and losses."

Aleskandra Josifoska of UNLV won the final match of singles, and Paige Miles and Tereza Bekerova from Utah won the doubles final match.

The Grizzlies will travel to Northridge, Calif., Nov. 9-11 to compete in the Cal State Northridge Invitational.
