Women's golf to take on strong playing field in Washington
Sept. 23, 2012
The University of Montana women's golf team will be in Pullman, Wash., to compete in the Washington State Cougar Cup on Monday. Head coach Emily Milberger would like to keep the momentum the team gained from their last tournament in Bozeman. The team took home the tournament title and senior Olivia Weber took home an individual win. Weber and sophomore Tara Green are both expected to perform well at Washington State. They have both played the difficult course a few times before. In addition to difficult course conditions, the playing field is very strong. Fourteen teams from the northwest area are to compete in the two-day tournament. "It's a really strong field, but we have a lot of experience on the course," says Milberger. "We are expecting to have a strong finish. The course is challenging, but we can manage and will have a strong game plan." The team will play 36 holes on the first day and 18 on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com, and daily recaps will be posted on GoGriz.com following completion of each day.
