Montana claimed victory in a sudden death playoff at the Bobcat Invitational at the Riverside Country Club in Bozeman.

"It's really rewarding to see your players' hard work pay off," said head coach Emily Milberger.

The Grizzlies (306-303-304-913) tied with Utah Valley (311-301-301-913) for the top spot, but in a sudden death playoff where the four lowest scores counted, the Griz finished one-under-par to take the title home. Utah Valley completed the five-par playoff with a score of one-over-par.

Montana State (303-302-319-924) gave up their lead from the previous round to finish fourth behind Southern Utah (307-311-298-916). North Dakota (327-320-333) wrapped up the final round of the tournament in fifth with a overall score of 980.

"This wins shows our hard work," said senior Olivia Weber. "We really only had one week of practice before this tournament. It shows that we practiced hard and efficiently."

Weber (74-73-72-219) placed first in the tournament, a first in her collegiate golf career.

"I have never won in college," says Weber. "It's a great culmination of all my hard work and practice. I have wanted it for so long."

Sophomore Tara Green (77-75-75-227) claimed fifth place in the tournament.

Playing as an individual and not counting towards Montana's team score, junior Natalie Beard (76-79-78-233) finished the final round in tenth place.

Junior Lindsay Reeve (77-81-79) scored 237 to put her in seventeenth place. Right behind her, freshmen Haley Bingham (81-79-78) and Kyla Clancy (76-78-84) each put up a final score of 238 to tie for eighteenth.

"I think the players are really starting to see their potential, and we are building momentum as we head into our next tournament," says Milberger.

The women's golf teams heads to Pullman, Wash., Sept. 24 to compete in the Cougar Cup.
