Griz golf team adds New Mexico State transfer
June 25, 2012
University of Montana golf coach Emily Milberger announced recently that Lindsay Reeve has been accepted to the University and will join the Grizzlies as a junior in the fall. Reeve, of Redmond, Ore., spent three years and played two seasons at New Mexico State.
"I'm excited about Lindsay attending UM next year and becoming a member of the golf team," Milberger said. "She has a lot of talent and will contribute to the team. I'm looking forward to her success both on and off the course."
Reeve, a 2009 graduate of Redmond High, competed for the Aggies in 2009-10, redshirted in 2010-11 and played again last season.
She played in six tournaments as a freshman and finished with a scoring average of 83.4 over six tournaments and 18 rounds last year as a sophomore. She posted six rounds in the 70s, with a season-best showing of 2-over 74 in the second round of NMSU's Give `Em Five Intercollegiate last October.
Reeve, the 2008 Oregon Class 1A/2A/3A/4A state co-champion for Sisters High, tied for 26th at April's WAC championship for the Aggies' fifth-place team.
"I'm excited to join the Montana golf program," Reeve said. "I believe we have a good chance of contending for the Big Sky Conference title.
"I chose the University of Montana because Coach Milberger is enthusiastic about the game of golf and loves to win, and so do I."
Clancy, of Park City, Mont., and Bingham, of Rockwall, Texas, will both be freshmen in the fall.
Weber will be the team's lone senior in 2012-13 and top returning player. She had the team's top scoring average last year of 76.4, the lowest single-season scoring average in program history.
The second-team All-Big Sky Conference selection was the team's low scorer in four of its 11 tournaments last season and finished in the top two nine times. She tied for ninth (74+73+73) at the Big Sky championship in April on Montana's fourth-place team.
Also returning for the Grizzlies in 2012-13 will be sophomore Tara Green, whose 77.6 scoring average as a freshman ranked second only behind Weber. Green won Cal State Fullerton's Folino Invitational in February and was named second-team All-Big Sky Conference and the league's Freshman of the Year.
