Oct. 23, 2012
The University of Montana women's golf team finished its final fall tournament in ninth place Tuesday at the FedEx Memphis Intercollegiate in Germantown, Tenn. Tara Green passed teammate Olivia Weber on day two of the competition to lead the Grizzlies. Green shot an 81-78-74--233 to finish in 16th place. Weber shot 79-77-78--234 to finish in 20th. Hayley Bingham (28-84-83--245) finished the competition in 43rd. After shooting 85-85-78--248, Lindsay Reeve finished in 52nd. Kyla Clancy did not have a score for the first round and shot 85-81--166 the remaining two rounds to finish in 74th. "It's exciting to have two top 20 finishes," said head coach Emily Milberger. "Tara had a solid final round and it's great that she finished 16th." Montana finished behind Sam Houston State. A margin of seven strokes separated the two teams. Fourteen teams competed in the tournament held at the Ridgeway Country Club. "Today, we had a better round as a team," said Milberger. "It was a challenging course, but we got better each round. This is a good motivator as we head into the offseason." Samford kept the top spot on the leaderboard from day one, and its Natalie Mitchell remained in first place to finish the tournament. The Grizzlies will kick off its spring season Feb.17 in City of Industry, Calif., at the CSU Fullerton Folino Invitational.
