Griz complete round one of Big Sky Championship

The University of Montana golf team finished with an 18-hole team score of 303 and sit in fourth place after day one of the Big Sky Conference Golf Championship Sunday in Chandler, Ariz. Senior Lauren Howell paced the Grizzlies with her one-under-par 71. Howell currently is tied in second place. Junior Olivia Weber also had a promising day shooting two-over-par (74). Weber is tied on ninth place. The Northern Colorado Bears hold the top spot after firing a school-record round of 290. Montana is thirteen strokes off of the Bears' lead. "We had some great performances today," said Emily Milberger. "We are looking forward to moving up the leader board in the upcoming rounds." Montana is seven strokes back from second-place Sacramento State and five shots behind third-place Northern Arizona. Monday's second round begins at 7:30 a.m. and the final round on Tuesday also begins at 7:30 a.m. Live stats are provided each day via GolfStat.com and results and full recap will be provided on GoGriz.com following the day's round.
