GAME #9 : IDAHO STATE AT MONTANA: The University of Montana Grizzlies (3-5/1-4 BSC) host the Idaho State Bengals (1-6/0-4 BSC) in a Big Sky Conference game in UM's Washington-Grizzly Stadium at John Hoyt Field (25,217) on Saturday, Oct. 27, with kickoff at 1:40 p.m. (Mountain). UM's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will be honoring currently deployed Montana soldiers on "Military Appreciation Day" at the game.
GRIZ RADIO: Veteran Mick Holien, who has been chosen "Montana Sportscaster of the Year" an unprecedented 12 times in his career, is now in his 20th season as the "Voice" of Grizzly football. Former Griz (1991-94) wide receiver Scott Gurnsey and Greg Sundberg provide color commentary. The audio streaming is available on gogriz.com, the official web site of UM Athletics.

MONTANA-ISU SERIES HISTORY: Montana leads the series 41-13. The Grizzlies have won 16 of the last 17 games, and eight in a row. GRIZ LAST WEEK: At North Dakota 40, Montana 30: The Grizzlies had an impressive second-half comeback against Big Sky Conference newcomer UND, but the home team scored all 9 of its second-half points in the final two minutes of the game, as UM has now lost four of its last five league games. UND had two record-setters in the win, as senior quarterback Braden Hanson passed for 660 yards and junior wide receiver Greg Hardin had 333 receiving yards -- both Big Sky records. GRIZ OFFENSIVE LEADERS VERSUS UND: Quarterback Shay Smithwick-Hann replaced starter Trent McKinney at the beginning of the second quarter and finished with career highs of 26-39-0 passing for 306 yards and three touchdowns. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Ellis Henderson led Montana's receivers with a career-best of 8 catches for 112 yards, and scored one touchdown. Sophomore halfback Jordan Canada rushed for 91 rushing yards on 14 carries for 1 TD, while senior running back Peter Nguyen had 13 totes for 73 yards.
UM DEFENSIVE LEADERS VS. UND: Junior cornerback Sean Murray and linebacker John Kanongata'a had a team-high 11 tackles each, and Kanongata'a also had two sacks and a pass deflection. The Griz had three picks -- one each by Murray, junior safety Bo Tully, and junior cornerback Anthony Goodwin.
MONTANA'S WEEKLY POW (UND GAME) NOMINEES: Smithwick-Hann, a sophomore from Kalispell, Mont., was the offensive nominee, while Kanongata'a, a junior from Bellevue, Wash., got the nod on defense. Redshirt freshman punter Stephen Shaw, also from Bellevue, was UM's nominee for special teams player of the week. Shaw punted 9 times for an average of 43.8 yards per attempt, and had five kicks inside the UND's 20-yard line.
