THE GAME: The 11th/15th-ranked (The Sports Network & FCS Coaches' polls) University of Montana Grizzlies (1-0/0-0 Big Sky) play their first road game of the 2013 season, facing the University of North Dakota (1-1/0-0) on Saturday, Sept. 14. Kick-off is at 5:00 p.m. (Mtn.) in the Alerus Center.
GRIZ RADIO: Veteran Mick Holien is now in his 21st season as the "Voice of the Grizzlies." Former Griz (1991-94) wide receiver Scott Gurnsey provides in-booth color, while Greg Sundberg serves as the sideline reporter. UM's flagship station is KGVO Radio, 1290 AM/KVWE 101.5 FM. TV: The UM-UND game will be televised by Max Media of Montana. Ron Davis of KBOW Radio in Butte calls the play-by-play, while former (1988-90) Grizzly quarterback Grady Bennett will provide in-booth color, and Anna Cole is the sideline reporter. It will be aired on KTMF-FOX 23 & 42 in Missoula/Kalispell; KWYB-FOX 18 & 28 in Butte/ Bozeman; KFBB-FOX 5 in Great Falls; KHBB-FOX 5 in Helena; KULR-NBC 8 in Billings; and KXGN-NBC in Glendive.

NON-LEAGUE GAME: This Saturday's game in Grand Forks will not be a Big Sky Conference game, as the teams set this game up prior to UND joining the league.
UM MAKING THREE STRAIGHT TRIPS TO UND: This will be Montana's second game in a row in Grand Forks against UND, and the Griz also play there again next season on Oct. 4.
LAST GAME: The Grizzlies had two 100-yard rushers and held 12th-ranked Appalachian State to no touchdowns en route to a 30-6 victory on Aug. 31st. UM was idle last week.
CANADA & VAN HIT CENTURY MARK VERSUS MOUNTAINEERS: Junior running backs Jordan Canada and Travon Van rushed for 112 and 118 yards respectively against the Mountaineers on Aug. 31 to lead the Grizzlies' potent ground game as they rushed 52 times for 246 yards in the win. It was Canada's third career 100-yard rushing game.
J.J. SHARP: Junior quarterback Jordan Johnson was in good form after missing the 2012 season, going 19-of-23-0 for 251 yards and two touchdowns.
POW NOMINEES: Johnson was Montana's nominee for Big Sky offense player of the week for the ASU game, while Bo Tully, who had an interception and fumble recovery along with 6 tackles, was the nominee on defense. Sophomore punter Stephen Shaw, who averaged 54.4 yards on just three punts, was UM's nominee on special teams.
NEXT WEEK: Montana hosts Oklahoma Panhandle State on "Hall of Fame Weekend."
TRIPP NAMED BIG SKY PRESEASON MVP: Senior linebacker Jordan Tripp was named the Big Sky Conference pre-season MVP on defense. Joining Tripp on the pre-season all-league team was senior offensive tackle Danny Kistler Jr.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT: UND is 1-1 overall with a 69-10 win over Valparaiso and a 35-28 home loss last Saturday to 6th-ranked South Dakota State.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: UND plays six of its first seven games at home, and its first four are all in Alerus Center. UND is off next week and then hosts #2-ranked Montana State on Sept. 28th in its Big Sky opener. (UM is at NAU that day for its league opener).
LAST YEAR At UND 40, MONTANA 34: UND drove 59 yards in 27 seconds, and quarterback Braden Hanson threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Greg Hardin with 12 seconds to go to give UND an improbable victory. The Grizzlies had taken a 34-31 lead with 6:05 remaining on a 27-yard pass from Shay Smithwick-Hann to Ellis Henderson. (Stats and story on last year's game on add 14).
