Four Griz football games to be aired by Root Sports

May 6, 2014

Four of the Montana football team's 12 games in 2014 have been selected to be part of the Root Sports 11-game fall broadcast schedule, the Big Sky Conference announced Tuesday. This is the third year of a multi-year partnership between DirecTV Sports Networks and the Big Sky.

Montana's home games against Northern Colorado on Sept. 27, Sacramento State on Nov. 1 and Montana State on Nov. 22 were picked up by Root Sports, as was the Grizzlies' game on Nov. 8 at defending Big Sky Conference champion Eastern Washington.

The Homecoming game against UNC will kick off at 1 p.m. The 114th Brawl of the Wild will start at noon. The other start times will be announced at a later date.

Montana, Eastern Washington and Montana State all have four games included in the Root Sports package, a league high. All three head-to-head games between the Grizzlies, Eagles and Bobcats were selected, and two of the matchups bookend the schedule.

The Eastern Washington-Montana State nonconference game at Bozeman on Saturday, Sept. 20, will kick off the Root Sports schedule. The Montana State-Montana game at Missoula on Nov. 22 will end it.

There is a single game on the Root Sports schedule through its first nine weeks leading up to the final weekend of the regular season. Eastern Washington will play at Portland State on Friday night, Nov. 21, before the Montana-Montana State game on the 22nd.

Montana had four games aired on Root Sports in 2013. Its other eight regular-season games were televised by Max Media of Montana.

Montana and Grizzly Sports Properties will work with local partners to fill out the remaining 2014 television schedule.
