Head football coach Mick Delaney welcomes the Missoula community to help the team close out spring ball on Friday.
April 17, 2013
It will be “Friday Night Lights” later this week as The University of Montana Grizzly football team concludes its spring drills on April 19, with an evening scrimmage in Washington-Grizzly Stadium. The scrimmage will start around 7:15 p.m. and there will be no admission charge.
The gates to the stadium will open at 5 p.m. and there will be plenty of festivities surrounding the scrimmage.
The fun begins at 5:30 p.m. as all kids will be welcomed on the Washington-Grizzly Stadium field for drills and stations with Griz football players and coaches.
Two Grizzly greats will be on hand, as the two quarterbacks who led the Grizzlies to national championships, Dave Dickenson (1995) and John Edwards (2001), will be in attendance. Both former standouts will talk to the crowd prior to the scrimmage.
Another highlight on Friday will be the introduction of the Grizzlies’ 2013 team captains before the start of the scrimmage. (Head coach Mick Delaney will tell his team who they have chosen as captains at a team meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Friday).
Also, following the scrimmage (which will be around 8:45 p.m.), Dickenson, Edwards, and the current Grizzly players will sign autographs.
A limited number of the official 2013 Grizzly Football Poster (one ONLY please) will be available following the scrimmage as well.
Fans must enter Washington-Grizzly Stadium via the West and South Gates. Seating is available only on the West Side of the stadium. (All other seating areas will be closed).
Griz fans are encouraged to park in either Lot W OR on the east side of the stadium as the 45th annual Kyi-Yo Yo Pow Wow event begins that evening.
Fans are reminded that the annual Great Griz Encounter event will once again take place in August in Caras Park.
