MONTANA: Jonathan was moved from linebacker to tight end in the spring and is vying for "PT" at his new position.

2012: He was a squad member at Montana.

2011: He was a redshirt at UM.

HIGH SCHOOL: He earned 12 letters at Butte Central High School: four each in football, basketball, and track...all-state in all three sports, twice in football and hoops his junior and senior season, and in track as a junior...played defensive end and wide receiver...was a team captain in football and basketball...he was an outstanding receiver with 95 career receptions, including a single-season school record 55 catches in 2009...when his team lost its starting quarterback due to injury his senior year he switched positions and threw for 1,790 yards and 21 touchdowns, rushed for 379 yards and six TDs and guided the Maroons to a 9-2 record that season....his high school football coach was Don Peoples.

PERSONAL: His major is history. Birth date: Sept. 19, 1992. His parents are Cyndy and Toby Richards of Butte. His cousin, Aschan Richards, is a sophomore tight end at UM.
