Montana: Herbert is one of the fastest players on the team as a true freshman and may see action this season. He was moved from linebacker to safety prior to the start of fall camp.

High School: He helped the San Clemente High School Tritons to a 12-2 record and a berth in the Pac5 Southern Conference Section title game, a 27-13 loss to Santa Margarita... first team All-County and all-league as a senior when he had 112 tackles, including 82 solo stops, and 7.5 sacks...chosen his "Defensive Player of the Year" following his senior season... also ran for three touchdowns and caught a TD pass...also first team all-state and All-County in track his senior year...has run a 10.71 in the 100 meters.
