Griz host Bears & Hornets in league contests this week

THE GAMES: The University of Montana Grizzlies (11-6/4-1) are back home after two weeks on the road, hosting the Northern Colorado Bears (6-10/3-2) on Thursday, Jan. 19, and the Sacramento State Hornets (5-11/0-5) on Saturday, Jan. 14. Both games in Montana's Dahlberg Arena start at 7:05 p.m. RADIO: UM's flagship station is KGVO Radio (1290 AM). A LOOK AT THE GRIZZLIES' LAST TWO (BIG SKY) (1-1): At Weber State 80, Montana 64: The Wildcats won their eighth game in a row as junior guard Damian Lillard scored a game-high 21 points. The loss snapped the Grizzlies' five-game winning streak. Montana battled back and cut WSU's lead to eight points (65-57) with 8:24 left, but junior guard Scott Bamforth nailed a three-pointer on his team's next possession to give them an 11-point lead (68-57), and WSU led by double figures the rest of the way. UM junior guard Will Cherry scored a team-high 15 points. Sophomore guard Kareem Jamar was Montana's other double-figure scorer with 11 points. Montana 78, at Northern Arizona 53: The Griz continued their hot shooting and stellar defense on their way to a sixth straight win. With the game tied 4-4 Jamar scored, giving UM the lead (6-4) for good. The Griz 39-23 at halftime. COACH TINKLE FOURTH IN CAREER WINS AT MONTANA: Griz sixth-year coach Wayne Tinkle now has 102 wins, ranking him fourth in school history.
