Ever dream of running down the lined field of Washington-Grizzly Stadium on a fall Saturday? Sept. 22 will be your opportunity when the Montana track and field program hosts the fifth annual Homecoming Hustle 5K and Battle of the Businesses 5K relay race.

The unique race, which takes a lap around the field before ending at the tailgate area outside the stadium, begins at 9:55 a.m. downtown and follows the Homecoming parade route, just minutes before the start of the 10 a.m. parade.

All proceeds from the race, which is the program's primary annual fundraiser, go directly to the Griz track and field program. The cost of the event, which also offers a noncompetitive 3K walk option, is $25 and includes a race T-shirt.

Businesses can sign up to be Silver race sponsors for $500 or Maroon sponsors for $350. A Silver sponsorship includes five relay race entries. Both levels of sponsorship include a corporate logo on the race T-shirt and promotional materials in the race packets.

The winning business in the relay race will claim the traveling trophy and be able to display it until the 2013 race. The 2012 winner was Sprinkler Maniac.

For more information about the race or sponsorship, contact Montana track and field coach Brian Schweyen at or 406-243-5413 or assistant coach Vicky Pounds at or 406-243-4657.
