The 2011-12 indoor and outdoor seasons will be Harry Clark's 11th year as an assistant coach with the Montana track and field program. He coaches the sprints, hurdles and throws.
Clark's athletes are coming off a successful 2011 outdoor season. Kourtney Danreuther won a Big Sky Conference championship in the 400-meter hurdles as a redshirt freshman, while on the men's side, freshman Drew Owens finished second in the same event.
Both athletes advanced to the NCAA West Regional.
In the throws, Nicole Ennen earned All-Big Sky Conference honors in the discus at the 2011 outdoor championships with a school-record effort of 154-2.
Clark coached his athletes to six point-scoring performances at the 2011 Big Sky indoor championships.
During his coaching tenure, Clark has had five Big Sky Conference indoor champions, including four-time champion Loni Perkins-Judisch in the 200 and 400 meters, and seven outdoor champions. Perkins-Judisch was a four-time outdoor champion in the 400 meters.
Clark has also produced four 4x400-meter Big Sky Conference championship relay teams.
Prior to joining the Montana staff Clark was the head football coach and assistant track and field coach at Stanford (Mont.) High for six years.
Clark competed at the University of Houston and Montana State University, qualifying four times for the NCAA championships in the decathlon. His highest finish was fourth at the 1989 national meet. Clark also competed at the 1987 U.S. Olympic Festival, where he had a third-place showing in the decathlon.
Clark still holds the Montana State record in the decathlon with 7,633 points.
As a prep at Cascade (Mont.) High, Clark was an 11-time state champion in track and field. He still holds the all-time, all-class state record in the triple jump (48-2) and the Class B record in the 110-meter hurdles (14.54) and 300-meter hurdles (38.1).
Clark and his wife, Lori, have two sons, Dexter and Cole.
