Hall named Big Sky Athlete of the Week

Feb. 14, 2012

Montana junior Lindsey Hall was named the Big Sky Conference Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday for her recent performance at the Boise State Team Challenge at Nampa, Idaho. Hall won the pentathlon Friday with a season-best score of 3,842 points to earn her third career athlete of the week award.

It was the eighth pentathlon and 12th multi-events victory of Hall's career and gives her the nation's 16th-best pentathlon mark this winter.

Hall had marks of 8.66 in the 60-meter hurdles, 5-3.75 in the high jump, a career-best 36-9.5 in the shot put, 18-9 in the long jump and 2:27.09 in the 800 meters to out-distance UC Santa Barbara's Maureen Ajoku by 57 points and Cal State Los Angeles's Tuekeha Huntley by 60 points.

Hall will compete in the high jump and long jump Friday at the Montana State Open, then take her potential points to Flagstaff, Ariz., next week for the Big Sky Conference indoor championships.

Hall currently ranks No. 1 in the Big Sky in the pentathlon and long jump (19-4.25), second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.54) and fourth in the triple jump (38-11.75) and is tied for third in the high jump (5-6.5).

On paper that would give Hall 38.5 points at the championships. The Big Sky record is 40 points, which Northern Arizona's Monique Young totaled in 2006.

Hall earned Most Valuable Athlete honors at last year's indoor meet with 34 points. She won the pentathlon and high jump, finished third in the hurdles and long jump and placed seventh in the triple jump.

If Hall advances to nationals in the pentathlon, she will compete at Nampa, Idaho, on Friday, March 9.
