Bork spent one year as a graduate assistant, two as a volunteer coach and two on a half-time basis before being promoted to a full-time position in August 2007. A two-time all-America decathlete for Montana, Bork coaches the multi-events, high jump, long jump, triple jump and pole vault. Bork's athletes are coming off their best year in his coaching career, highlighted by Lindsey Hall's sweep of the indoor pentathlon and outdoor heptathlon at the Big Sky Conference championships and Hall's advancement in the heptathlon to the NCAA championships. Hall scored 34 points at the 2011 indoor championships to earn Most Valuable Athlete honors. In addition to her pentathlon championship, she also won the high jump and finished third in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump. Hall set a new Montana indoor long jump record (19-2.5) in 2011 and set new standards in both the pentathlon (3,884) and heptathlon (5,360) as well. Bork coached his athletes to three individual Big Sky championships during the 2011 indoor and outdoor seasons and seven All-Big Sky Conference finishes. On the men's team, Austin Emry placed second in the high jump at the indoor championships and finished fourth in the heptathlon in his first year competing in the multi-events. A former Montana standout, Bork earned all-America honors in the decathlon at both the 2001 and '02 NCAA outdoor championships, placing 10th with 7,229 points in 2001 and sixth in 2002 with a personal-best 7,699 points. That total continues to rank fifth in Big Sky Conference history. Bork was the 2002 Big Sky Conference decathlon champion. He continued to train for the multi-events after graduation and competed in the decathlon at the 2002 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the heptathlon at the 2004 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Bork and his wife, Ashild, have a son, Olander. |
