2015: Scored the winning touchdown against North Dakota State to open the season on Aug. 29 … Played in six games, battling injury throughout the season … UM’s fourth leading rusher, running for 156 yards on 29 attempts, scoring two touchdowns … Posted a long of 45 yards … Averaged 26 yards per game … Caught two passes for 11 yards.
2014: Was a redshirt.
2013: He was UM’s fourth-leading rusher with 207 yards. He played in eight games, missing the last five because of an injury, ending his season.
2012: He was scheduled to redshirt, but was activated due to an injury to a teammate.
HIGH SCHOOL: He rushed for 1,719 yards on 180 carries, and scored 24 touchdowns at Desert Ridge High School as a senior, when his team went 10-3. He rushed for a state single-game record 403 yards and five TDs in a 63-14 win over Phoenix North Canyon. Named all-state and All-Arizona at running back as a senior. His junior year he rushed for 1,329 yards and 19 TDs. He was an all-conference pick in wrestling. Served as team captain and was voted “Most Inspirational” in football as a senior. His prep football coach was Jeremy Hathcock. He also lettered in wrestling, baseball, and track.
CAREER HIGHS: He rushed 10 times for 79 yards, with a long of 31 yards against Portland State last season. He had a 51-yard TD catch at North Dakota a year ago. He had four receptions and two TD grabs against Idaho State in 2012.
PERSONAL: His major is communication studies. His parents are Clint and Leija Counts of Mesa. Birth date: July 1, 1993.
