GSA Events

Each year the Grizzly Scholarship Association (GSA) hosts several special event fundraisers to benefit student-athlete scholarships at The University of Montana. All GSA events are open to the general public. You do not need to be a GSA member to attend these events.

Western Montana Wine & Beer Festival
The "social event of the year," sponsored by Summit Beverage and the Grizzly Scholarship takes place in September or October each fall.

The festival consists of fine wine and beer tasting with food samples from some of Missoula's top restaurants and caterers. In addition, Montana artists will be on site displaying and selling art. A silent auction consisting of limited edition originals and a variety of collector's wine items will be a part of the evening festivities.

Tickets are $50 per person and you must be 21 or older to attend.

Statewide GSA Poker Shootout Sponsored by Century Gaming & Summit Beverage
Each spring, the Grizzly Scholarship Association, Century Gaming and Summit Beverage team up to bring the Statewide GSA Poker Shootout to various locations throughout Montana. Satellite tournaments run February- March each year. Each satellite tournament pays out cash in addition to sending 3-5 qualifiers to the championship round in Missoula, MT at the end of March. The championship round will pay out cash to the final table with the grand prize being $5,000.

The buy-in for satellite tournaments are $100. The buy-in for the championship round is $200. Re-buys are available at both satellite and championship rounds. All proceeds benefit student-athlete scholarships at UM.

Annual Montana Grizzlies Conoco Golf Classic Presented by Summit Beverage
Each year the second Friday of June plays host to the Annual Montana Grizzlies Conoco Golf Classic presented by Summit Beverage. The unique format of this golf tournament makes it an event that people return to year after year. It is a five-person scramble with breakfast served prior to the shotgun start, hotdogs served on both the front-9 and back-9 throughout the day, beverages provided and a BBQ following the tournament. Each hole has a variety of contests with great prizes given away after the tournament.

The tournament takes place at the Canyon River Golf Club in Missoula. The entry fee is $160 per person, with a maximum of five golfers per team. Entry fee includes a Nike pullover, one barbeque ticket, cart, range balls and the opportunity to challenge Griz coaches and staff members on the course.

Single-hole sponsorships are available for $150. Sponsors will be recognized with signage on the tee box and on registration information provided to each player.

Griz Auction
The Biennial Griz Auction takes place on the eve of the Griz-Cat Football Game each year it is played in Missoula. The event includes a one-hour social, seated dinner, silent auction and live auction. This is the largest fundraiser for the GSA. It provides and excellent way to kick-off the Griz-Cat weekend festivities.
