The Adams Center auxiliary gymnasiums were completed in 1998, providing Grizzly Athletics with two additional facilities for athletic practices and events.
The auxiliary gymnasiums are located just south of the Adams Center and north of the Grizzly Pool. The facility is split into two separate venues. The West Auxiliary Gymnasium (WAG) is large enough to set up three volleyball courts, allowing it to be conducive for various practices, summer camps and other events as needed. It is regularly used as a practice gymnasium for volleyball and both of UM's basketball teams, and is the former primary playing venue for the Montana volleyball program. The East Auxiliary Gymnasium (EAG) is a practice facility for all UM programs, particularly during the winter months when indoor training is needed.
The Griz volleyball team christened the WAG in 1999 with an impressive 10-1 record, highlighted by a season-opening eight-match win streak. Montana used the WAG, which seats 1,218 fans, as its primary venue through the 2018 season. The WAG features a permanent maple wood floor and a high-intensity lighting system. A scoreboard from Dahlberg Arena was mounted on the south side of the WAG and permanent shot clocks for basketball were mounted behind the backstops. A state-of-the-art public-address system is in place, and eight speakers were installed at ceiling height to provide quality sound throughout the facility.
The EAG has solely been used as a practice facility for all UM sports programs, including basketball, cross country, golf, football, soccer, tennis, track & field and volleyball.
