The four candidates to become Montana's next women's golf coach have come and gone.

John Cleary, an assistant at Texas Tech, was here Monday; Emily Milberger, most recently at SMU, was here Tuesday; Michelle Murphy, the coach at Portland until the Pilots recently dropped their golf programs in favor of women's crew, was here Wednesday; and Josh Fosdick, currently an assistant at Oklahoma State, was here Thursday.

We can't divulge how each of them performed, but it's likely everyone involved in the process from the UM side came up with a pretty similar final ranking.

The search committee meets Friday, then forwards the names of the candidates they felt separated themselves to Director of Athletics Jim O'Day, who met with each candidates and has the final say in who replaces Joanne Steele.

An offer will probably be made to someone this weekend or early next week. Hopefully a public announcement can be made by the end of next week after he or she accepts.

It will be a quick turnaround for whoever is hired. The first day of classes for the fall semester is Monday, Aug. 29.
